Our protective packaging systems, which we produce for the Metal Industry, receive support from our steel or plastic strapping products that will ensure the highest level of packaging, handling, shipment and stocking stages.

While the APEX, APEX PLUS, MAGNUS and USLM quality steel straps we produce have been used for more than a hundred years in securing your product, we have paved the way for the use of PET straps we have developed with many R&D studies we have carried out. PET strapping can provide an advantage over the steel strap in some Metal Industry application areas. In addition, we would like to state that we have the technical equipment, knowledge and experience to make the technical evaluation necessary to convert the strapping application made with steel straps into PET straps.

Regardless of the Strapping material used, we also produce and continuously improve all kinds of hand tools and automatic machines that can be used in all types of Strapping. In this context, battery powered Grippack hand tools used in steel strapping are a result of our work in line with customer demands and needs.

ROLL SHEET

HOT-ROLLED PRODUCT

Signode® has developed a wide range of strapping machines to be used in connecting hot rolling products. In order to secure the hot rolled coils produced in the hot rolling mill Signode has designed machines which can be integrated into almost any customer steel or aluminum mill layout.

The M410-CH3A, which is placed close to the wrapper at the exit of the production line, is the most effective machine developed for hot-rolled products. The machine can easily strap coils whose temperature reaches 800 degrees Celsius. For the most effective hot strip coil securement Signodes model M410-CH3A circumferential strapping machine can be located very close to the re-coiler at the exit of the mill.

The M410-CVA model machine, which can throw the circumferential strap horizontally, has been developed to strap the rolls that come out perpendicularly from the production line and provides ease of transportation and storage within the factory.

COLD ROLLING PRODUCT

The use of Signode high-performance Tenax® Polyester strapping reduces to a minimum any surface damage during strapping and secures the coils for both internal handling or shipment to end users in combination with other coil packaging materials The dimensions of the steel and plastic straps used vary between 19-32 mm. Signode® M410 head, which fixes the steel stray on the cold roll with spot welding, provides a very flat welding location and avoids possible marks on the roll surface.

The increasing use of polyester straps for the safe transportation and storage of cold rolls within the factory has enabled Signode's AK200 series of circular heads to be used in many applications. AK 200 heads perform circumferential or radial bonding with PET straps with a width of 19-, 25- and 32-mm. AK 200s’ patented Z-weld vibration bonding system provides stable and high-strength weld strength and is superior to simple hot bonding methods. With the use of Signode® high performance Tenax® PET strap during strapping, surface damages caused by the strap are minimized, and the rolls packaged in combination with other packaging materials are safely transported to the end user.

For simpler and lower levels of production, semi-automatic Signode PSF strapping systems offer a lower cost advantage. Here, the strap is automatically thrown into the coil, stretching, handcuffing and cutting with the pneumatic machine is done by the operator.

Coilmaster Coil Wrapping Systems

Automatic Coilmaster systems, which provide radial wrapping of coils with different wrapping materials, provide optimum protection against external factors. It can be wrapping materials, stretch film, VCI film or paper, or sometimes a combination of both. Depending on the selected system modules and the level of automation, coil outer and inner edge protection, coil outer wrapping, and side discs can be applied in the Coilmaster. Various Coilmaster models and wrapping solutions are available in and out of line.

SHEET METAL

Sheet metal packaging automation is provided by using Signode automatic strapping machines and in-line Flatpack wrapping machines. In these machines, depending on the product and package weight, it is possible to use 19-32mm wide steel strap or PET strap to the desired extent and the most appropriate packaging solution is ensured. A large number of options for machines allow plate packages to be strapped transversely or longitudinally and as desired. Options include bottom wedge feeder units in different lengths, top wedge or cover feeder units, cardboard or metal corner protection feeder units, label feeder units, label printing machines and automatic strap feeder units.

If desired, there are types of machines that strap to the desired position by moving along package or as fixed. Depending on the line output speed, the economical semi-automatic and operator-controlled strap feeder units “PSF” allow the optimal solution with many modular options.

Pipe, Profile, Angle and Fish Plate

Round or hexagonal tube packs can be securely packed with either a steel strap with a width of 19-32 mm or Tenax® polyester strap with the same widths, depending on the weight of the package and the surface of the tube. To protect the sensitive surface of the pipes and to prevent them from being scratched or damaged during transport and transportation, the piping packages can be wrapped with protective wrapping materials before throwing a strap and can also be completely packaged with a vertical spiral wrapper.

Pipe, profile, angle and fish plate strapping machines can be fixed or mobile according to the factory layout and constraints of the customer. Moving models can be ground dependent or suspended, providing design and layout flexibility to all M410 or AK200 strapping machines.

Shredded Sheet

The SVA model can be equipped with up to three strapping heads, depending online throughputs so can accommodate up to 30 coils per minute with two straps per coil on a twin headed SVA-2 model. Signode SVAs can be equipped with sealed, welded or clamped versions of M410 and M247 heads working with 32mm steel strap or M20, M22, KLS, KLW heads suitable for 16/19mm steel strap and AK-200 heads working with PET strap. Seal/coupling system performance in both welded and sealed and clamped heads secures the coil during stacking, stocking and transportation, as well as providing the best end-of-line packaging options for sensitive materials and customer requests. After the coils are overlapped on the pallet, they are lined up on the pallet, and their strapping on the pallet is done with AK-200 BRS (PET Strap Operated) or M410 BRS and other BRS type automatic strapping machines working with steel straps. Packaging is completed by wrapping the pallet with the desired type of VCI film, stretch film or VCI wrapping paper with Signode Wrapping Machines.

Packaging materials to be used in wrapping machines, VCI films, VCI packaging papers and stretch films are also provided by Signode.
